Terms of Use
Cataloger AI · Effective October 17, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Bill Harned ("we", "us") about your use of the Cataloger AI app (the "App"). By downloading or using the App you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on Apple devices that you own or control, as allowed by the App Store's usage rules. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, resell or distribute the App, or use it to build a competing service, except where the law allows it.
2. Your collection and content
Items, photos, notes and other information you put into the App are yours. They are stored on your device, so you are responsible for keeping backups. If you turn on the optional iCloud sync setting, they are also stored in your private iCloud account, which Apple provides under its own terms; sync is a convenience, not a backup, and deleting an item on one synced device deletes it on the others. We cannot recover data that is lost if you delete the App, lose your device, or remove it from iCloud. You are responsible for having the right to any photos or text you add, and for the legality of the things you catalog.
3. AI Pack subscription
- The AI Pack is an optional auto-renewing subscription that unlocks the AI features: AI Fill, filling an item from a photo, scanning a shelf, using the page text of a link to fill your fields, and price estimates for books. The price and billing period are shown in the App before you subscribe. Everything else in the App works without it.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings (Settings > your name > Subscriptions). Deleting the App does not cancel it.
- If a free trial or introductory price is offered, it is described in the App at purchase. Any unused part of a trial ends when you buy a subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies.
- We may set reasonable daily limits on the AI features to keep the service available for everyone. A shelf scan counts as several lookups.
4. AI suggestions are not guaranteed
The AI features use artificial intelligence. Suggestions, including names, makers, countries of origin, sizes, dimensions, dates and prices, can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Prices are rough estimates of typical retail prices, not appraisals or valuations, and are not advice for buying, selling, insuring or taxes. The App shows suggestions for you to review and does not apply them until you accept them. You are responsible for checking them before you rely on them. A scan of a photo can misread or miss items, and details read from a store's page, including its price, may be wrong, out of date, or different from what you paid.
5. Links, store pages and shared templates
When you add an item from a link, the App reads the page you choose on your device. Pages belong to their owners and may change, block access or be unavailable; the App does not promise it can read any particular site, and you should use it only with pages and photos you are allowed to use. Prices and photos taken from a page are for your own record keeping. When you share a category template, you are sharing only its layout, and you are responsible for what you send and to whom. We do not host templates and are not responsible for templates you receive from others; you choose whether to add them.
6. Acceptable use
Do not misuse the App or our services. In particular, do not: send content you have no right to send or that includes other people's personal information; try to get around usage limits or subscription checks; probe, disrupt or overload our servers; use scripts or other software to access the AI service except through the App; or use the App in violation of the law.
7. Third-party services
The App uses services from others, including Apple, Anthropic, Vercel, Open Library, Google Books, DuckDuckGo and the stores and websites whose links you open, as described in the Privacy Policy. They may change or become unavailable, and their own terms apply to them. Images found through web image search belong to their owners; make sure your use of any image is permitted.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not promise that the App or AI Fill will be uninterrupted, error-free or that information in them will be accurate.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits or collection value, arising from your use of the App. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months before the claim. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
10. Changes and ending
We may update the App and these terms. If a change is material, we will tell you in the App or here, and continued use means you accept the updated terms. You may stop using the App at any time. We may suspend access to the AI features if you breach these terms.
11. Terms required by Apple
- These terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are responsible for the App and its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App.
- If the App fails to meet a warranty that applies, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the App to you. Apple has no other warranty obligation for the App. Any other claims, losses or costs are our responsibility.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing claims about the App or your use of it, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet legal requirements, and consumer protection claims.
- If a third party claims the App infringes its intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.
- You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. embargo or listed as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on a U.S. list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using the App, such as your wireless data agreement.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and, once you accept them, may enforce them against you.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where your local consumer law requires otherwise.
